Hôtel d'Orsay
About the hotel
The residence of Napoleon I's surgeon, this address became a hotel frequented by travellers from all over the world during the 1900 Universal Exhibition. Today, the classicism of the façade contrasts with the interior spaces, which are modern showcases for a collection of ancient and contemporary works of art.
In 1998, the Hôtel Solférino and the Hôtel Résidence Orsay joined forces to become today's address: a place that combines history, art and modern comfort.
Nestling in the façade, the four figurative sculptures, dating from the 18th century, are still there to welcome their visitors. The rooms, decorated with antique furniture, echo the neighbouring Musée d'Orsay with a collection of paintings, including portraits by the French and Italian schools. Contemporary pieces are also featured, such as a diptych by Jean-Pierre Bertrand under the glass roof, a bronze sculpture by Roseline Granet created especially for the hotel's interior garden, and makemonos and paintings from Asia.
Close to the Seine and the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, the Hôtel d'Orsay is ideally located for enjoying the museums and visiting the capital's iconic sites: Meet Monet and the Impressionists at the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie, plunge down to the banks of the Seine to visit the Invalides, cross the Leopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge to the Jardin des Tuileries, then continue on to the Louvre Museum or set course for the Arc de Triomphe via the Champs-Elysées and Place de la Concorde. We invite you to savour the experience of French life in the midst of Parisian beauty.
